I need to back up because I forgot to talk about the hockey game David took me to on the 21st.
The Brûleurs de Loups is Grenoble's
hockey team and they were playing the team from Chamonix. They were having a Ronald McDonald night to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, so the players were dressed like Ronald.
It was fun to see. They raised over 3170 € by auctioning off the jerseys and selling pucks for a second intermission game. Participants who bought a puck flung them onto the ice and the winner was the one who got closest to the center.
During the first intermission they had parts of a Big Mac that they spread around on the ice and 2 contestants had to assemble the burger while tangling with the mascots. It was funny also.
Since we had had our dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas day was very leisurely. We managed to get the kids to open gifts in stages so it lasted several hours, with intermissions to clean up and to have brunch.

Joanna got a almost life-size Barbie head to do hair dressing.
Tedy got a big Lego set. You can see the container on the floor. Several games

Karen got a watch
and she's opening Mexican Train.
Madeline got a giant teddy bear...and I mean giant, bigger than her. There was lots more but those are some of the highlights. As mentioned in my last post, the PJ's this year were replaced with fleece throws. Everyone seemed to be delighted.
We filled the rest of the day playing and enjoying what we had received.
The 26th is not boxing day here and it is business as usual. It was a gorgeous day and we walked to get some groceries for Sam to make pasta for supper, strolled around more, Joanna and I, and I ended up getting over 8000 steps and some lovely fresh air.
David is singing along with Italian opera. 😉

I happened to notice that one player had a name very similar to mine. David looked him up, and strangely enough, he is Canadian. They have several Canadian players.
I also have to tell you about the level of noise and enthusiasm there is. They have one section that sings and plays big bass drums the whole game. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my video to upload.

Today we had a celebratory brunch as it is their 19th anniversary.
In the afternoon everyone was outside for activities and I roamed around town for about 1- 1/2 hours and 9000+steps. Parents went out tonight for dinner and a movie and now Sam and I are watching/listening to the World Jr. Game at 2:00 a.m. here (our second night) although, I must confess I don't last, but my heart is with them. GO, C-A-N-A-D-A!
