I've had a very quiet week which was fine after the eventful trip of last week. On Sunday, they had company for supper to serve the poutine for which I'd transported the squeaky cheese and sauce packets. They decided to make it an 'all Canadian' meal so made Nanaimo bars, and Butter Tart squares. We took a trip to Voiron (larger food store) to get the ingredients. Stores close at 12:30 on Sunday, but we had lots of time, we thought.

David took the short route, but when we arrived at a roundabout it was blocked up with signs and yellow-vested protesters and tractors. We were not allowed to exit where we wanted and ended up on the highway headed back to Moirans. Then, because we were exiting at Moirans to get turned around we had to pay a toll there. By the time we got back to Voirons, we had just enough time to rush through the grocery list and they were herding us up to check out and exit. We came home a different way. The company was one of David's coaches and his wife and daughter. He had played football at CEGEP in Quebec and loves poutine. It was a hit, as were the 'Canadian' squares.
3 days a week the family goes to Grenoble after school for football and cheerleading. I didn't go in at all this week. I guess you could say I tended the home fires while people came and went. The weather has been gray but not very cold. I took a walk with Madeline one night to walk the dog as it was getting dark. I had gone for a walk with Karen in the day, so that day I had over 10,000 steps.
I need to start exploring again like last time, but I really would like to see some sun.
The walk along La Morge is lovely with the sound of flowing water, and the sunset promised a nice day for Thursday.
I have seen some other trees that are new to me on the walk to school.

These are the leaves that Tedy and I collected on our dog walk last night while everyone else was gone to the city.

Today I strolled down a side street and found bamboo in front of an apartment building.

And so ends week one of my visit.
It sounds like a good week except for the confusion on the shopping trip.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures. I saw bamboo once in Vermont, a long stretch on both sides of a road. Just gorgeous. For some reason I had thought bamboo only grew in warm climates.

Glad you got to relax this week. Being a tourist is great, but sometimes it's nice just "being" in a place.

Have a great week. I'm sure you will be exploring more. I've been watching Christmas movies. I have been in bed with back problems and then I was sick for 2 days. All ready to go now. Did I tell you Brenda Wilmot and I go swimming at the Y? We go in the therapy pool it is nice and warm.
