I think I left you on the top of the mountain, but you know eventually you have to come back down to earth. This week was pretty relaxing. I did some sewing, some visiting, lots of reading, and went to our Spanish/English lesson each day. I visited one of our teachers on Wed. and actually was able to have a conversation in which she understood my few words and I understood her. It was very exciting and I commended Azarias the next day for being such a good teacher.
Thursday, New Year’s Eve, we had a gathering at the Rochon’s and brought in the new year with a great meal, good fellowship, and a time of prayer. About 1:00 I walked home and decided to see if they were still celebrating at the church. Yes, they were still in the entertainment of the evening and I enjoyed watching, even though I didn’t understand what was going on. They were doing a skit, which seemed to be hilarious to the people. I enjoyed the performances. One of my students came to talk with me and tried to explain but it was very noisy and he said he didn’t have enough vocabulary. He told me he will find the words to tell me another day. After that they had a devotional and some more singing and then everyone went around hugging and saying “bonne année”. It was great! Then they ate their stew-like meal that the ladies had prepared. My students are such gentlemen. Several offered me a plate but I explained to each one that I had eaten earlier. I loaned my camera to one and he had a great time taking photos of everyone. They love to have their picture taken. I only wish I could afford to give them copies. I told them to come by and see them on the computer. I took pictures of all my students that were there. It was a fun time. We finished about 4 and they made sure that someone escorted me home.
So an eventful year has passed and another one is about to unfold. I pray that it will provide you many opportunities to serve the Lord and to experience His grace and mercy as you keep your focus on Him…He is Worthy!!!
